Reimagining how attendees plan an 800+ session event.

Overview

As the lead product designer, I optimized the planning journey to improve discovery, decision-making, and schedule management. I led UX UI design strategy and collaborated closely with PO, engineering, and event teams to boosted pre-event planning by 43%, saved 10K+ sessions with Watch Later, and achieved a 95% satisfaction rate.

What I Discovered

Users were planning a conference with more than 800+ sessions overlapping schedules, and long session descriptions.

3 issues stood out:

  1. A cramped planning experience

Reframing the Challenge

I brought a different perspective back to the PO and stakeholders.

Improving the filter would help users search faster, but it wouldn't solve the experience of planning a meaningful event schedule across hundreds of options.

And I mapped the users' planning journey, and targeted the 3 stages — Discovery, Decide, Manage — for optimization.
